# Tellura > Tellura is an AI search visibility and SEO platform. It maps the facts about a business from its own site, measures what ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews tell buyers about it, tracks Google rankings and the business's own search, analytics and ads data alongside, and improves the business's site wherever it lives: in the business's own voice, through measured experiments. This page is a plain summary for AI agents and assistants. The same text is available as markdown at [tellura.io/agents.md](https://tellura.io/agents.md) and [tellura.io/llms.txt](https://tellura.io/llms.txt). Last updated October 17, 2026. ## At a glance - **What it is:** AI visibility (AEO and GEO), traditional SEO and competitive research in one platform, run on measured data rather than guesses. - **Who it is for:** businesses that sell locally or online and want to know, and improve, how AI assistants describe them. - **How it works:** Analyze, Ask, Improve. Analyze: map the business and its market Tellura builds a fact base for the business, then maps who it competes with and how buyers search. - **Reads the business's own site.** Tellura crawls the site and maps the facts about the business, its products, services and offerings, so it can track how accurately and competitively AI finds and interprets them. - **Researches the business on the open web** and proposes further facts for the owner to verify. - **Keeps a versioned fact base.** Verified facts are grouped by category with full history, and import and export as CSV. - **Syncs product catalogs from Shopify,** including SEO titles, descriptions and metafields. - **Maps competitors from real answers.** Competitors come from the names AI engines actually mention and from organic search, sorted as direct, aspirational, adjacent or emerging. - **Reads the business's own data** from Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, Google Business Profile and Google Ads (see Data sources). - **Learns the business's language.** Tellura learns how the business writes, its words, tone and style, from its own pages, and uses it in everything it drafts. ## 2. Ask: put the buyers' questions to every engine Tellura asks AI engines the conversational, contextual questions buyers ask, such as "Who makes the best cold brew in Brooklyn?", on a schedule. - **Three kinds of question.** Branded questions name the business. Non-branded questions cover the category and local searches where the business should appear. Competitor questions compare it with others. - **Many wordings of one question.** Templates fill in the city, products and competitors, so one question becomes the variations buyers actually type. - **Answers as buyers see them.** Questions run with live web search by default. Any question can also run without search, to see what a model believes on its own. - **A steady cadence.** Each kind of question runs on its own schedule, from hourly to monthly, and rotates so coverage stays broad. Every answer is scored: - **Visibility:** whether the business is mentioned, and where it ranks in a list. - **Recommendation:** whether the engine recommends it, stays neutral or warns against it, with sentiment and completeness. - **Competitors:** who else is named, and each one's share of voice. - **Citations:** every source the engine cited, split into the business's own site and third parties. - **Accuracy:** up to ten claims per answer are checked against the verified fact base and marked true, false or unverifiable. The business can override any verdict. - **Scores over time:** visibility, prominence, accuracy and AI SEO health, rolled up daily for each engine. ## 3. Improve: change the site, with review Tellura turns what it measures into specific changes across traditional search, AI answers and conversational search, and the business decides how much of its site Tellura controls. - **Action briefs.** Rule-based recommendations, each linked to the AI answers that prompted it, with a status the team works through. - **Copy in the business's own voice.** Product descriptions, SEO titles and descriptions, page copy and new pages, written in the business's language and style from its verified facts, filling the gaps without inventing claims. - **Review first.** Every change moves from suggested to edited to approved before anything is published, one at a time or in batches. Nothing publishes on its own schedule. - **Safe publishing.** Approved changes are written straight to the site. Before writing, Tellura checks the page has not changed since the draft, keeps the previous version so any change can be reverted, and confirms the new version is live. - **Measured experiments.** Changes run as experiments against a baseline in AI answers, rankings, traffic and conversions. What works is kept and built on, and each round starts from what the last one moved. ## Traditional search (SEO) - **Keyword rank tracking.** Google organic positions through the top 100 results, by location, on desktop or mobile, checked daily. Each check records the ranking page, the top ten competitors, the local map pack, the search features shown, and whether an AI Overview appears. - **Competitor research.** Competitors' organic traffic, keyword gaps of up to 1,000 keywords, and new competitors as they appear, refreshed weekly. - **Page speed.** Lighthouse scores and Core Web Vitals for mobile and desktop, with the specific improvements to make. - **Agentic commerce readiness.** For Shopify stores, a daily check of what AI shopping agents need: llms.txt, a UCP commerce protocol document, schema.org product markup, AI crawler rules in robots.txt, and Shop Pay. ## Data sources The business connects its own accounts. Search, analytics and ads accounts are read only: Tellura never changes them. - **Google Search Console:** clicks, impressions, click-through rate and position by query, page, device and country. - **Google Analytics 4:** sessions, users, pageviews, conversions and engagement by channel and page. - **Google Business Profile:** search and map impressions, calls, direction requests and website clicks. - **Google Ads:** performance by campaign, keyword, search term, ad, Performance Max asset and product, plus campaign settings and change history. A hard allowlist blocks every request that would change the account. - **Site platforms:** Shopify and the other CMSs and commerce platforms Tellura connects to: pages, products, SEO fields and structured data. The only writes are changes the business has approved. - **Search data:** Google rankings and competitor research come from DataForSEO; page speed comes from Google PageSpeed Insights. ## Your data - **Private to your workspace.** Every request is scoped to a single workspace, and credentials for connected accounts are encrypted (AES-256-GCM). - **Not used for training.** Tellura does not train models on customer data. To take its measurements, Tellura sends the questions, and the facts being checked, to the AI engines it measures (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Perplexity) and to a web research service that verifies claims. - **Yours to export.** Everything Tellura tracks for a business can be exported at any time: AI answers and scores, citations, rankings, search, analytics and ads data, the fact base, and every change made to the site. - **Shared on your terms.** Teams and agencies can give clients a read-only portal and scheduled PDF reports. ## Wherever your site lives Control over the site is optional, and it is powerful and flexible. - **Measure only.** Use Tellura for measurement and recommendations, and make changes your own way. - **Approve and publish.** Connect the site, review each change, and publish from Tellura. - **Full control.** Let Tellura run measured experiments and publish approved rounds as they are ready. - **Many platforms, directly.** Tellura integrates directly with many CMSs and commerce platforms, Shopify among them, reading the site as it is and writing approved changes back. - **Any other platform** is integrated during onboarding, which takes one week. ## Common questions ### What does Tellura measure? What five AI engines say about a business when buyers ask, how accurate those answers are, who they recommend instead, which sources they cite, and how the business ranks in Google for the same questions. ### Is Tellura an SEO tool or an AI visibility tool?
